Book List September is all about Monocle.
Since 2007 the Monocle magazine is published. In my opinion it looks like a rather masculine magazine, with its black covers in comparison to Kinfolk or Cereal Magazine.
Sometimes a cartoon-like front, and other times with photo’s. On the inside there is a whole world to be found in design, culture, through fashion, some politics, to entrepreneurship and better living.
I also enjoy the monocle newsletter, especially the weekend edition and on Wednesday the design edition.
Last year Monocle made a special edition, The Entrepreneurs. I thought it was a onetime special, luckily this year it continued. And if we can go on trips again, there is also a whole series of travel guide books of cities around the world.
But lastly I enjoy the Monocle Books very much, because I love beautiful coffee table books on different subjects. In Gestalten they found a worthy publisher for their books, like:
- The Monocle guide of better living
- The Monocle guide of good business
- The Monocle book of Japan
And their latest book, The Monocle Book of Gentle Living. It is brand new, just got my copy from the bookstore. A guide to slowing down, enjoying more and being happy. I browsed through it, and it looks só good, nice colour paper and soft to the touch, a book ribbon, another real coffee table book, the only problem is, we don’t own a coffee table…
You can find all the books on the Monocle website, if you want to read one of these books, but I recommend you buy them at your local book store, they will love for that!
